Growing tomorrow's outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen
Greenbrier Valley Sportsman Alliance is a volunteer-run nonprofit fostering camaraderie through hunting, shooting, fishing, and the outdoors — and getting local kids out there.

Built by volunteers who love this valley
GVSA started with just eight people and a desire to educate young people about the outdoors. Today it has 73 members from across Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Monroe & Summers counties. There's no office and no paid staff — everything we do is run and funded by community volunteers.
GVSA runs its own youth events, like Youth Day and the Youth Squirrel Hunt, and backs local teams and programs such as the Mountaineer Clay Crushers and Archery in the Schools. We also show up for community events like fishing days and the Marlinton Rodeo, and award the Hattie Rae Callison Memorial Scholarship. Photos and stories from all of it are in the Gallery.
Why GVSA exists
The mission of GVSA is to foster a spirit of camaraderie among members of the community through a common interest in hunting, shooting, fishing and overall outdoors. To provide a fun and safe environment to fellowship with all members associated with our club. We also sponsor and support social, educational and charitable programs within our immediate communities, and promote a positive image dealing within the sportsman community.

"That's the joy of it all"
“The whole reason behind the club is to get these kids outdoors and away from the video games and phones. So far, it's worked very well and we've had a lot of support. All of the money raised stays right here in the Greenbrier Valley and is spent here on the kids.”
