Annual Youth Day

GVSA's free fall day for kids 17 and under, with hands-on stations like archery and a focus on outdoor education, conservation, safety, and sportsmanship. These photos are from Youth Day 2025. This year's is Saturday, October 3 — see Events.

Youth Squirrel Hunt

A safety orientation, then a mentored hunt — an adult with every kid, everyone in blaze orange. Held each fall; these are from November 8, 2025. Thanks to Ronnie Snedegar, the squirrel dog handlers, Park Center Sporting Goods, The Patriots MC, and WV DNR Police.

A program GVSA backs

Archery in the Schools

Funding for local NASP archery teams, including Alderson Elementary. Alderson finished 10th in Bullseye and 12th in 3D at the 2026 NASP Championship in Daytona, Florida. GVSA presented the team a check toward Nationals and Worlds, with more checks to come for other teams.

Fishing & outdoor days

Fishing Derby, White Sulphur Springs

In May 2025, GVSA spent a morning at the Fishing Derby in White Sulphur Springs giving away fishing poles and tackle. GVSA's table also carried its Youth Day and Hattie Rae Callison scholarship displays.

Scout Day Camp & Marlinton Rodeo

Scout Day Camp. GVSA supplied 40 fishing poles for Greenbrier Scout Day Camp. The kids had a blast learning to cast and then trying to catch fish in the Greenbrier River.

A GVSA scholarship

Hattie Rae Callison Memorial Scholarship

GVSA's scholarship in memory of Hattie Rae Callison, awarded to a student with an interest in marksmanship sports like archery and shooting. In May 2025, nine scholarships went to the class of 2025 at five high schools: Greenbrier East, Greenbrier West, Summers County, James Monroe, and Pocahontas.
